Preferred Filipino Caregiver at Work

But Why?

One of the biggest problems for working parents is who they will entrust their children to while they are at work.

Finding a reliable and qualified caregiver is not always easy. In fact, there are even those who change caregivers twice in a month.

These days, interest in foreign caregivers, especially Filipino nannies, is at the top of preferences and is increasing day by day. But why this demand?

At first, the best way to understand the increase in interest in Filipino workers is to compare them with non-Filipinos. Filipino nannies appear to be far superior to others in terms of English proficiency, education level, and cultural background.

They know the value of their work and do not behave frivolously. Managing a Filipino worker is also very easy. Generally, they do not engage in deceitful practices. They work honestly and diligently.

Filipino workers are usually raised from a young age. It is important not to disturb Filipino employees on Saturday afternoons and Sundays for their future performance. On Saturday nights (Sabado night), they sit together and take turns singing karaoke. This is their biggest entertainment, and they never skip it.

From Governess to Caregiver: Filipino Nannies at Work

There used to be famous 'French governesses.' Nowadays, they have been rightly replaced by Filipino child caregivers.

Why has the trend changed like this?

In the late Ottoman period and ''old Turkey,'' those with international connections, representatives of the private sector, and educated high-level bureaucrats had relatively good economic conditions, and this group believed that civilization was in the West, wanting the influence of Western culture on their children's education from as early as possible. This need led to the widespread adoption of Western governesses in Turkey.

Families with good economic conditions who want their children to think and live like enlightened people in the developing world employed Western governesses, especially the most well-known French governesses, in the upbringing of their children from infancy, following the principle that ''a tree is bent while it is young.''

The aim here was not just to learn a language. To learn a foreign language properly and sufficiently, and to adapt easily to the Western civilization that we encounter, governesses were frequently sought. These governesses would try to educate the children they took on from a young age in areas such as foreign languages, music, handicrafts, and Western upbringing.

So what happened next? Over time, the conjuncture began to change. As the number of economically well-off and working parent families increased in our country, parallel to the developing and changing world, this situation spread to the general population. Parents are now aware that at least one foreign language can be quite beneficial for their children in a globalized world. This need has brought Filipino caregivers to the forefront as the most qualified workers in this field.

They are not Westerners, but they speak English. Therefore, they can provide the English-speaking environment for families' children that they cannot provide themselves. Thus, children can become familiar with English from a young age and be able to speak English like their native language in the future, opening up to the world. At least, this is what is expected.

Those who work with Filipino caregivers confidently say that most of them have good English skills and excellent work discipline. Many can play at least one musical instrument and are warm-hearted and social people.

Whether you call them governesses or nannies, they are currently the best child caregivers available, namely Filipino nannies. Do not underestimate them as caregivers; many of them have an education that can be considered academic!

They are hardworking, cheerful, a bit money-minded, but one must admit that they seem to be the most qualified governesses in the modern world...

Due to the increasing interest in Filipino nannies and the fatigue from other different caregivers, they have become the primary choice for many, as everyone has some knowledge about them; they can be described as qualified and equipped workers we have included in our homes with their plane tickets, visas, residence permits, health checks, etc.

Initially, you might wonder if we can communicate with such a foreign Filipino caregiver, but you can see how this concern transforms into a slight peace of mind with amazing dishes from Asian cuisine, good cleaning, and even the 2-year-old child bringing back a toy car with a dead battery in the first week and saying 'it’s not working.'

You can happily experience that Filipino caregivers really have excellent English, and after children start spending time with them, they make significant progress in foreign language skills.

They are very good and respectful in terms of morals, and the words 'sir-madam' are never absent from their language; they do everything to learn what they do not know.
